I can’t keep up with the people in this house.

Ben will be home 12.23 and leaves 1.2 for Germany. He never calls his mother, so I only know this because he told his sister.

Sarah came home for a few days, decided to go to FL and got some super cheap tics. Wilma came, she went to LA instead. Supposed to be home Monday night, instead came home Tuesday night. At 6:30 this morning she asked me to drive her into DC to catch the 2:15 shuttle to NYC. (Halloween Party, which she didn’t learn of until she was on her way. Her date is going as Dr. Strangelove, I suggested she get all dolled up in her prettiest and when someone asks, she is ‘The Bomb’.) Anyway she should be home on Sunday so we can all get scary and witchy on Monday.

Travis doesn’t come straight home anymore, he goes to DragonSong, to peruse the vinyl and soak up the atmosphere… I should start worrying about now. Some idiot bought him tickets to fly to NC Thanksgiving weekend to see Harry Potter with his best friend who moved away last summer. ARGH! My baby is flying alone. I don’t mind when he goes to NYC or DC, or even San Francisco with his sibs, but ALONE! Ok, I will get over that, but the idiot (me) who purchased the tics got him a nice early 7:15 flight for the Friday after Thanksgiving. Not thinking that there will now be no Bay sailing for me, the boat has to be dry from 12.1 to 3.1 and I will be getting up at 4:30 so I can have him at the airport ticket in hand by 6:30. All that on a turkey dinner and generous amounts of Irish with Aunt Majda, the Slovenian Goddess, all 6′ of her! To my credit, I did arrange for him to fly back on Monday, he will be a little late for classes, but they will live, this is the high school that caught 8 students, 6 boys and 2 girls, having sex in the auditorium after school. I think they have more to worry about than Travis being late for school.

Hurricane Wilma is heading for my Grandma Wilma. She’s 87 years young and lives alone in Florida. Please light candles, say prayers, keep good thoughts for her. She sounded good this morning, not afraid. She’s been in Florida since 1947, so she’s a seasoned hurricane-er. I am going to cash in a few of the airline miles I was saving for Germany, England and Scotland, and go visit her next month. Sarah is going to Orlando next week and should be able to stop in and visit with her Great-grandmother. I wanted to fly her up to wait out the storm here in good ole Manassas, but no way. She’s got friends and ‘things’ to do. Besides, who in their right mind would want to come here anyway…

My brother, Mike, my Grandma Wilma, and my brother Bill

Yes, they are that tall. All the men in my family are tall. Come to think of it, the women are too, except me, my mom and my Grandma.
Life’s not always fair.

Did I say the wrong thing?

I drove a friend somewhere last week, no big deal, just a ride. When she told me where she needed to go I laughed and told her a little story about that particular spot. A ‘few’ years ago, before my husband was my husband, we were getting something to drink late at night in the drive up at Wendy’s. Kevin leaned over and whispered something I’m not repeating (at least here) in my ear. I think I just snapped. I was still ‘married’ to my idiot x, but that was on paper only. I flew out of the parking lot, not even picking up our order and drove into the industrial park behind the restaurant. Once I stopped the car and got my composure back I told him to ‘put out or get out’. Needless to say, he did. I mean 18 years later we are married and we still love to go for a drive and end up there…

But now, my friend doesn’t call anymore. I guess cause I act like the ‘Mom of the Century’ I shouldn’t be ‘Wonder Wifey’ also? Go figure.
